On Your Marks, Get Set, Go…. Getting Sporty in Grenada

Imagine sitting on the sands of an island that is absolute paradise. The tall coconut trees are along the edge of the shoreline and you are just about to snorkel in the azure blue water in front of you. The previous day you spent diving in and around a sculpture garden after a day of deep sea fishing.

Welcome to Grenada. It’s all possible.

Not everybody who visits the Caribbean is looking to sit on the beach the entire time they are here. Some people would prefer far more active pursuits that involve walking, running and swimming.

Travelers who have energy to spare can find plenty of things to do in Grenada. Let’s explore what there is to do…

Hash House Harriers

It’s more of an event that happens every Saturday with people coming from all over the island to enjoy taking part in either a run or a walk with others. There are two courses set so that there is something for everybody and it’s likely to take around an hour to complete. Afterwards you can enjoy a beer and talk about how much fun you had. However, something to be warned about is that you may be expected to drink your beer out of your own shoe if you’re a first timer.

Aquatic Activities

Being surrounded by the beautiful azure waters of the Atlantic and the Caribbean means that there are some great water-sport opportunities. Snorkeling, diving and deep sea fishing are all very popular. There is also a white water rafting tour on the island, for those who want to get wet. Those who opt to take a look around underwater will be pleasantly surprised with what they find. Grenada is one of the most popular dive destinations in the region and has plenty of wrecks and reefs to explore.

If you’re not feeling quite as active and sporty as usual, try some dolphin or whale watching.

Biking

How about taking off for the day on a bike. You can make your reservation at the island’s only bike themed café, Mocha Spoke. You can either ask to be accompanied by an expert, or take advice on where to go to see great landscape and some of the local nature.379277_10151305793754157_1924463454_n-300x198
